MG MGA - Sports Windscreen
Hi Guys Has anyone has had experience with the sports screen available for the MGA. It looks great and I know I will get wet if it rains, but I was more worried about ending up with a face full of bugs every time I go for a drive. I understand the screens about 18cm tall, so maybe you sit low enough in the car for the bugs to fly overhead. http://www.mgaguru.com/mgtech/accessories/at109.htm http://www.angloparts.com/en/search/find_part?part=140.238 http://www.ragtops.com/ Tim ![]() |

Yes, Just get yourself some lexan from a plastics shop and away you go. http://freespace.virgin.net/marka.hester/pic106.htm If your cutting another one out from a large sheet, I could be interested in another one. I know someone in Perth who has several spare windscreen frames. I would ask on this group if anyone has a broken or damaged frame uprights before cutting up an original one thought. You can use your standard bottom rail if you don't want to keep your existing one whole. Email me offline if you want to know more. Mark. |

Hi Tim, I've been running this windscreen for the last three years or so with no difficulties. I have a similar screen on a Jag and have not had any real trouble with bugs. When I am out on the highway, I do tend to wear goggles if there is a lot of dust swirling around and out of fear of catching a piece of gravel or something in the eye. ![]() |

Tim, I've been toying with that idea myself. This weekend I went to the Meadowbrook Concours and saw a Ferrari Barchetta 166 mm with the PERFECT split sport screen. Seen here: http://thegarageblog.com/garage/wp-content/uploads/barchetta.jpg Do not confuse this with a pair of Brooklands. This much more elegant with a center connecting point and the windscreen arching back in a sophisticated V shape. Note the bottoms of the glass cut in a curve to match the body. Sexy, sexy, sexy. |

I collected all the bits to do this, then picked up all the proper bits locally from a retiring racer. I still have to fit it. If anyone needs the frame bits and stanchions to do this, I have a complete set to dispose of. |

Dominic, Is that an MGA style screen or the barchetta style like I referenced? |
