MG MGF Technical - Wobbly and creaking shelves

Got really annoying wobbly and creaking shelves. Any suggestions as to how I can cure this?

Thanks, Ian.

P.S. And before you ask, no I didn’t fit the bloody things I bought the car secondhand.
Ian Hunter

where's your shelves then....?
Steve

Ian, you have probably got the MFI ones, rip 'em out and get some from B&Q ,much better;-)

Try the MFI BBS not the MGF BBS

Yeah, I think you guys are right, I’ll just rip them out and put some filler in the holes. There’ll be much more room then and it’ll put a stop to the missus filling the place up with crappy ornaments that slide onto the floor as soon as you brake hard.
Ian

I find mine quite useful for carrying the spare Head Gasket, ECU, Hydragas pump, EPAS fuse, etc...

What a wonderful idea! A bit like a parcel shelf for the shopping I suppose. Does one fit them in the front of the car or are they for the boot?

A lot of people seem to like fitting bookshelves on the back of the boot and indeed Rover spotted this trend and the last few Fs had them fitted at the factory. I confess I have never seen anyone with books for bric-a-brac on these appendages. I assume they blow off when you drive at any speed.

Clearly a design fault.

Perhaps Mike Satur (who does his own line in rear bookshelves) could come up with a way of securing the books and bric-a-brac.

Cheers

Er, am i missing something? :-)

Never had a problem with shelves, i deleted them from the specification when i ordered the car. Got a bit of a leak from the shower though, it obviously needs re-tiling but it is so awkward getting into the passenger footwell.

I thought my F had every available optional extra fitted to it (apart from heated washer jets), but it seems I was wrong. I've got a spare limed oak shelf at home, but I don't think the colour will go with BRG, walnut dash and the chrome taps fitted to the sink.

Britain is a place of memories. We don't have much to be proud of anymore (except the MGF) so we have the optional shelves to place all our old memorabilia on to remember the better days. The trouble is because we're not very good at repairing roads all the photos and trinkets keep falling off the shelves. Simple really.
